Acrobatics -

Is a style of dance that combines classical Dance technique with precision acrobatic elements.  It is defined by its' athletic character, it is a unique choreography, the seamlessly blends Dance and Acrobatics, and it is use of Acrobatics in a Dance context.  It is a popular Dance style in amateur competitive Dance as well as a professional Dance theater and contemporary circus productions such as those by Cirque Du Soleil.  Acrobatics is known by various other names including Acrobatic Dance, and Gymnastic Dance, though it is most commonly referred to simply as Acro by Dancers and Dance professionals.

Acro is an especially challenging Dance style for Dancers as it requires them to be trained in both Dance and Acrobatic Skills.  Acro Dancers must be in excellent physical condition as well, because Acro is a physically demanding activity.  Although Acro is a popular Dance style, many Dance Studios do not teach it, often due to the lack of facilities or expertise needed for Acrobatic Training.  Acrobatics should only be taught by experienced trained professionals.

Contortion -

Is an unusual form of physical display which involves the dramatic bending and flexing of the human body.  Contortion is often part of acrobatics and circus acts.  In general, contortionists have unusual natural flexibility, which is then enhanced through gymnastics training. Contortion should only be taught by experienced trained professionals.

Tumbling is a form of gymnastics which is performed without the assistance of props; you may hear it referred to as floor gymnastics.  Like other forms of gymnastics, tubing requires immense physical strength, flexibility, and stamina, and tumblers typically endure grueling training programs to condition themselves.  Several form of tumbling are considered Olympic Sports, and these events are often quite popular with spectators.  Tumbling should only be taught by experienced trained professionals.
